Trying a new recipe

I got to try a new recipe that my friend Kara told me about. Lo-Carb Chicken Enchiladas!

Here is her recipe:

  • Bake boneless skinless chicken breasts in oven until cooked (I seasoned the chicken with salt and garlic powder
  • Let chicken cool and pull apart shredding the chicken
  • Put the shredded chicken in the bottom of a casserole dish or deep baking pan
  • Sautée onions and peppers if you like
  • Place onions and peppers on top of shredded chicken
  • Cover in enchilada sauce
  • Place cheddar cheese across top and bake at 375 until cheese is melted *about 5-8 minutes*

  • I added a cream cheese greek yogurt blend to this recipe as well and this was delicious!!!

So today was just an average work day until I found some goodies in the mail! I signed up for Gogo Squeez's Play Day campaign and got my coupon in the mail!

You can sign up for yours here: http://playday.gogosqueez.com/

I also received some free samples and coupons for enfamil baby formula! If you're a mother to a newborn you already know how expensive baby formula is. These definitely help! You can sign up on similac.com and enfamil.com for coupons for their products and for free samples. I have received multiple free cans of formula, not only the sample packages. It really helps new moms with picking out the best formula for their babies.

    MealPrep

So more perks on having a powerlifter as a husband, they know nutrition! At least what nutrition it takes to get in shape...This is what I am prepping for the rest of the week....

Low Carb Chicken Enchiladas (Can you say YUM???)
    Teriyaki Chicken
    Barbque chicken

I was also making my awesome hubby chicken, ground beef, and rice for the week.

I eat .25 lbs of meat per serving, he eats .5 lbs per serving. He eats 2 cups of rice per serving, I eat 1 cup of rice per serving. My goal is to have 150g or less of carbs per day, as much protein as possible, and low fat.

I have been working out 3 days a week and unfortunately so far I have been gaining weight, 4 lbs to be exact... (which is expected since I am just starting to lift weights, as you gain muscle you gain in weight at first) With the combination of more cardio in the mix I should start seeing myself lose weight soon! Fingers crossed!

Please excuse the mess! Meal prep in progress! :)

    ToysRUs Coupons!

There are some ToysRUs Coupons available! Print them now to use during an upcoming sale for extra savings!

    20% off one item

    15%off one item

    CVS Dove Sale

We went to CVS after Target and scored an even better deal! 3 bottles of Dove Sensitive body wash, 6 bottles of Dove for men body wash, AND a bar of dove soap for a total of -0.89!

This is how we did it: we had $1/off coupons for the Dove Sensitive body wash, $2/off one coupons for the Dove for men. CVS had a sale on all dove body wash being $2/$7 and with every $15 purchase you receive a $5 cash reward. I also had a $10 and $5 cash reward from previous purchases which I used. Then I received another $5 cash reward in this purchase (just a note if I spend $1 more I will get another $5 cash reward). This made the total -0.89! So technically CVS paid me to take their dove off of their shelves!

    Target Catch

So...last week my sister and I scored a bunch of stuff! First we went to target. We got 4 dove+men's deodorant, 3 cans of febreeze, one can of scrubbing bubbles all purpose cleaner, 1 box of barilla pasta, 2 bottles of dial for men body wash, 1 up&up toothbrush, and 2 crest toothpastes.

We used a 1.00/1 and 2*.75/off one coupons for the febreeze which were on sale for 2.54 or 2.08 a piece. The scrubbing bubbles was on sale for 1.42. The Barilla pasta was on sale for 0.78 cents (I didn't have my coupon for this but if i did it would have been 0.03!!!). The Dial for men i used a $2.00/off one for each. The up&up toothbrush I used a $1.00/off one coupon from target.com. The Crest toothpaste I used .75/off one coupons (there is also a coupon on target.com for another .50! I forgot about that one as well). With the 4 deoderants I received a $5 target gift card. I also already had one gift card from a previous purchase. This made my total purchase $17.51!

    Coupon Phone Apps

Everyone knows about Ibotta these days and how it works. Just in case you don't, it's an app for on your phone where they list items that in which you buy, you can scan your receipt with the upc on the item to get a certain amount of money off. Well thanks to Katrina, I found out yesterday while on our shopping trip that there is checkout51 which is another app like ibotta. For first time users they have an offer right now for $2 cash back by scanning a receipt for a purchase of $20 or more! Can't beat that!

We also went to the gym for a workout yesterday. It was for back/shoulders. I did shoulder extensions, side pulls, and a bunch more pulls it seems like! After that I got on the elliptical. Today I sure am feeling it!

    LivingSocial and Groupon

Another way to save a lot of money is by cruising these sites: Groupon.com and livingsocial.com. I recently scored Enjoythecity coupon books for $12 of which they are usually $20! They are FULL of coupons for local businesses and merchants. They also have coupons for just about any city! Here is the link to the books: LivingSocial

    Couponing Trips

So to start off right, I have also been couponing thanks to my awesome sister Britt. She taught me the basics of couponing. Here is what she told me:

You get at least 2 papers every Sunday unless it doesn't have any coupons you are interested in. You can check out thekrazycouponlady.com before they come out to see what is included. Southernsavers.com also has an insert sheet that you can print out to see what inserts are coming out which week!

There are also printable coupons that you can find on shopathome.com, coupons.com, redplum.com, and smartsource.com. I check southernsavers.com, krazycouponlady.com, and passionatepennypinchers.com daily to see what the most recent deals are. But in saying that it ultimately takes going to the store(s) where you want to coupon, knowing their coupon policy, and looking at what you have to compare with sale prices.

Another couponing add on is to use mobile apps! I use Ibotta in which you "complete" offers and once you purchase the item you "completed" you take a picture of your receipt and scan the barcode of the item. Once approved the money gets logged to your account. The money can be sent straight to your paypal!

You get the best deal usually when there is a store coupon along with a manufacturer coupon of which you can "stack" together to use on that item. You can obtain store coupons on different retailers' websites, through their rewards programs, and even right at the store. For example Walgreens has a coupon book that they issue monthly that has a ton of great coupons inside.

As far as my most recent trip, it was rather small. I went to my local Dollar Tree and obtained 3 free items, sugar free werthers hard candies, BIC Cristal Pens, and Breathe Right Nasal Strips. I got them all for free by using 1.00/off coupons that I printed from various websites (as listed above).

I will be going again tomorrow and this weekend! I also bought a bag of Natural Choice dog food that you can send in a mail-in rebate form to reimburse you for the cost by sending it in with the upc code off of the bag and your receipt! Can't beat a free bag of dog food when you have a big 80 lb dog like I do!

You can obtain the form here: Natural Choice

    New Years resolution

So...I've decided to start a blog so I can keep up with my New Years resolutions which includes to:

    1. Lose all of my pregnancy weight and tone up
    2. Coupon to where I have enough stock piled for my family for the rest of the year (and on)
    3. Pay all credit card debt off by the end of the year
    4. Start Brayden's college saving plan
    5. Save my emergency fund for 6 months worth

It's going to take a lot to make these happen but I'm going full force! On this blog I will post my workout progress along with my couponing trip outcomes to show my progress.

A little bit about me: I'm 25 years old, I work full time and have a newborn son. I have been blessed with an amazing family and friends. I love to horseback ride of which I will not be able to do until I get back in shape physically and financially, not to mention when my newborn is older.

On to my current status, I have started my workouts as of the first. My husband is a fitness guru who's passion is in power-lifting. His most recent feat was getting 1st place at the Biggest Deadlift of the South competition! :) Thanks to him I have a free trainer!  Now to keep up with his diet and training guidelines...that should be difficult. Anyways, the first day we went was a leg day.

    My first status pictures:

(please excuse the dirty mirror and kitty cat)

This is what the workout consisted of:

    1. leg extension machine 3 reps of 10-12
    2. squats (I was told to do what i could handle, apparently i'm not as strong as i thought i was because i couldn't get my form right at all! He ended up having me do front squats more on that below)
    3. squat machine 3 reps of 5
    4. calf raises 3 sets of 10

I was also supposed to do lunges but by that point my legs were jello so we quit at that point.

Front squats are where instead of the bar going behind your neck the bar is resting in front of your neck onto where your adam's apple would be if you have one and across your shoulders. you hold the bar up by crossing your arms and holding the bars in between your shoulder and neck. You then squat with the bar in regular form where you cannot lean forward (which is my problem).

    More to come! :)
